Thank You to Our Supporting Organizations!

Updated: Sep 11, 2020

We wouldn't be where we are today without the help of these organizations.

This project would not be possible without the help of our many supporting organizations and sponsors.

Thank You to The Green Initiative Fund!

The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF) has been integral to our project funding since the project’s creation in 2016. TGIF has provided grants to our project team throughout our work with recycling filament. These grants have allowed us to acquire the necessary technology, including the extruder, granulator, and 3D printer, to produce recycled filament and for our team to produce quantifiable results from our research.

Thank You to UC Berkeley Engineering!

UC Berkeley Engineering has provided us with technical support, lab space, and facility usage for mechanical testing. Many engineering professors have been kind enough to support us with technical advice throughout our research. The lab space that our team operates out of was provided by the UC Berkeley Engineering department with the help of Scott Shakelton, Assistant Dean, Facilities & Capital Projects as well as a long term supporter of our project since 2016. We’d also like to extend a special thank you to Professor Zohdi of the Mechanical Engineering Department, who has allowed us to utilize his mechanical testing facilities.

Thank You to Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation!

Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation has provided us with space to temporarily operate our extrusion and 3D printer processes when the Moffitt Makerspace underwent renovations. The helpful staff at Jacobs Hall also provided technical support and advice. Jacobs Hall also is where we source most of our failed 3D prints for the recycling process. Special thanks to Joey Gottbrath, Mary Catherine Richardson, Adam Hutz, and Cody Glen for their continued support.

Thank You to the SERC and the Zero Waste Research Center!

SERC and the Zero Waste Research Center has supported and been a parent organization for this team since it was created, providing the necessary institutional support to help make this project a reality. SERC has also been the organization that funds the current student-lead working on this project.
